WHO WE ARE

Four Decades. One Standard.

From a single luxury ski boat built in Greenback, Tennessee to the most advanced lineup in wakeboarding and wakesurfing — here's how Supra got here.

1981 A Legacy of Innovation on the Water

Founded in 1981 by industry pioneer George Fowler, Supra Boats was built on a simple idea: create larger, family-oriented luxury ski boats that combined performance, comfort, and innovation. From its beginnings in Greenback, Tennessee to its current home in Maryville, Supra has spent more than four decades shaping the future of towboat design while building a reputation for quality, craftsmanship, and rider-focused performance.

1981–1989 Early Innovation & Industry Firsts

From the start, Supra pushed boundaries. The debut of the Supra Sport in 1981 introduced a new class of luxury ski boats designed for families without sacrificing performance. Throughout the 1980s, Supra continued to redefine what a towboat could be — introducing the industry's first big block engine in a ski boat, pioneering the open bow inboard design, and developing advanced hull technology including Kevlar-reinforced construction. Supra models quickly earned recognition both on the water and in competition, pulling world-class events and earning multiple 'Ski Boat of the Year' honors.

1990–1999 Evolution & Expansion

The 1990s marked a period of growth and transformation. With new ownership and leadership, Supra refined its focus on premium construction, luxury interiors, and technological advancement. The brand introduced all-fiberglass construction, fuel-injected engines, and early innovations in wakeboarding technology. By the end of the decade, the introduction of the Supra Launch — one of the first boats designed specifically for wakeboarding — signaled Supra's commitment to shaping the future of watersports. In 1999, new leadership established Skier's Choice as the parent company.

2000–2021The Skier's Choice Era

Under Skier's Choice, Supra entered a new chapter defined by continuous innovation and industry leadership. New models, advanced seating configurations, improved ballast systems, and hull designs optimized for wakeboarding and wakesurfing elevated the on-water experience. Manufacturing remains rooted in Maryville, Tennessee, where each Supra is built with meticulous attention to detail. The brand celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2021 and continues to earn industry recognition — including more than two decades of consecutive CSI Awards.
